December is here, and you know what that means: planning season. But here's the thing: most entrepreneurs and leaders approach life planning like they're preparing for a doctoral thesis. Hours of reflection, endless worksheets, complex frameworks that look impressive but never get executed.
What if I told you that you could create a powerful, actionable 2026 life plan in just one focused afternoon? Not a surface-level wish list, but a strategic roadmap that actually drives results and aligns with who you're becoming as a leader.
I've been helping high-capacity executives design their lives for years, and the most successful ones don't overthink this process. They get clear, get specific, and get moving. Today, I'm going to show you exactly how to do the same.
Why Most Life Plans Fail (And How to Avoid the Trap)
Before we dive into the five steps, let's address the elephant in the room. Most life plans end up forgotten in a drawer by February. Why? Because they focus on what you want to have instead of who you want to become and how you want to feel.
Tony Robbins teaches us through his RPM method that every goal needs three elements: the Result you're after, the Purpose that drives you, and the Massive Action plan to get there. But even that's not enough if you're not accounting for your Psychology, Strategy, and Energy: the three pillars of sustainable transformation.
The approach I'm sharing today integrates these frameworks into something Dan Harkavy would appreciate: simple, measurable, and outcome-focused. No fluff, just results.

Step 1: Conduct Your December Life Audit (30 minutes)
Start with radical honesty. Grab a notebook or open a document and create three columns: Psychology, Strategy, and Energy. These are the three pillars of the CatalX PSE framework, and they'll guide everything we do today.
Psychology Assessment:
What beliefs served you well in 2025?
Where did limiting thoughts hold you back?
What emotional patterns do you want to change?
How did your faith and spiritual life impact your leadership?
Strategy Assessment:
Which systems and habits created the most leverage?
What goals did you hit, and which ones did you miss?
Where was your time and energy misaligned with your values?
What partnerships or relationships need attention?
Energy Assessment:
When did you feel most alive and engaged this year?
What activities consistently drained you?
How well did you manage your physical and mental energy?
Where were you operating in your strengths versus your weaknesses?
This isn't about judgment: it's about data. You're identifying patterns that will inform smarter decisions in 2026. The leaders I work with who excel at this process treat their lives like their businesses: they measure what matters and adjust based on results.
Step 2: Define Your 2026 Vision Using RPM (45 minutes)
Now we get to the fun part. For each of the three CatalX PSE pillars, you're going to create one major Result, identify the Purpose behind it, and outline your Massive Action plan.
Psychology Pillar - Sample Framework:
Result: "I will lead with unshakeable confidence and emotional intelligence"
Purpose: "Because my team and family deserve a leader who's grounded, present, and secure"
Massive Action: Daily mindfulness practice, monthly coaching sessions, quarterly leadership assessments
Strategy Pillar - Sample Framework:
Result: "I will build systems that create predictable growth without burnout"
Purpose: "Because sustainable success allows me to serve at a higher level for the long term"
Massive Action: Implement team delegation protocols, establish clear boundaries, track energy alongside revenue
Energy Pillar - Sample Framework:
Result: "I will operate primarily in my zone of genius while effectively managing my energy"
Purpose: "Because when I'm energized and aligned, everyone around me benefits"
Massive Action: Strengths-based role design, weekly energy audits, quarterly team retreats
The key here is being specific about the feeling you want to experience in each area. Don't just say "grow my business": say "build a business that energizes me and serves our clients at the highest level."

Step 3: Create Your Quarterly Milestones with Measurements (30 minutes)
Here's where most people get stuck. They set annual goals and hope momentum carries them through. That's not how high performers operate. You need quarterly milestones that keep you accountable and allow for course corrections.
For each of your three RPM goals, identify:
Q1 Milestone (by March 31):
What specific outcome will you achieve?
How will you measure progress?
What potential obstacles need addressing?
Q2 Milestone (by June 30):
How does this build on Q1?
What systems need to be in place?
Who needs to be involved?
Q3 Milestone (by September 30):
What momentum should be established?
How will you maintain energy through summer?
What adjustments might be needed?
Q4 Milestone (by December 31):
How will you finish strong?
What legacy are you creating?
How are you setting up 2027?
Remember, these aren't rigid constraints: they're guideposts. As Dan Harkavy teaches, clarity breeds confidence, and confidence drives action. When you know exactly what you're aiming for each quarter, you make better daily decisions.
Step 4: Build Your Implementation System (20 minutes)
Plans without systems are just wishes. You need a simple, sustainable way to stay connected to your vision and track your progress. Here's what works:
Monthly Reviews (First Sunday of each month):
Review previous month's progress against milestones
Identify what worked and what didn't
Adjust next month's focus areas
Celebrate wins and learn from setbacks
Weekly Check-ins (Sunday planning session):
Review upcoming week against quarterly goals
Identify top three priorities for each PSE pillar
Block time for goal-related activities
Prepare mentally and emotionally for the week ahead
Daily Anchors (5-minute morning routine):
Read your vision statements
Identify one action per pillar for today
Set intention for how you want to show up
Connect with your deeper purpose
The most successful leaders I work with keep this simple. They don't need complex apps or elaborate tracking systems: just consistent, intentional connection to their plan.

Step 5: Create Your Visual Life Map and Accountability Structure (15 minutes)
Your brain processes visual information faster than text. Create a simple visual representation of your 2026 plan that you can reference daily. This could be:
A one-page infographic with your three RPM goals
A vision board that captures the feeling of your intended outcomes
A simple calendar with quarterly milestones marked
A phone wallpaper with your core focus areas
But here's the most important part: establish accountability. Share your plan with someone who will ask you the hard questions. This could be:
A coaching relationship focused on execution
A peer group of other high-capacity leaders
A spouse or business partner who understands your vision
A quarterly review process with your team
The leaders who actually achieve their life plans don't rely on willpower alone: they create systems that make success inevitable.
Your 2026 Starts Today
You now have a complete framework for designing your 2026 life plan. But frameworks without action are worthless. The question isn't whether this approach works: it's whether you'll work the approach.
As John Mark Comer reminds us in The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry, the pace at which we live often prevents us from living the life we actually want. This planning process forces you to slow down, get clear, and make intentional choices about who you're becoming and how you want to feel.
Your team, your family, and your community need the best version of you in 2026. They need a leader who's clear, energized, and operating in alignment with their deepest values and greatest strengths.
The afternoon you invest today in planning could be the most important few hours of your entire year.
So here's my challenge: block three hours this week. Get somewhere quiet. Work through these five steps. And step into 2026 with the kind of clarity and confidence that transforms not just your results, but your entire experience of leadership and life.
The plan you create today becomes the life you live tomorrow. Make it count.
