A Whirling Dervish (Podcast)


Have you ever heard of the term whirling dervish? According to the urban dictionary, it's a term of endearment for an energetic, bouncy person. It can refer to someone that is messy and chaotic, you know, but - in a cute way.

Messy and chaotic can be cute - but it can also be a telltale sign of someone who is living a life focused on what's truly not important.

This week's podcast will be discussing the idea that in reality not much that we do is essential. Anyone can learn to do less better by understanding the need to say "no" more often without guilt - and embracing the limitations that lead to excellent results.

A non-essentialist thinker believes everything is essential and view all opportunities as basically equal. An essentialist thinker thinks almost everything is nonessential and distinguishes the vital few from the trivial many.

By learning to focus on and utilize your strengths at work you are able to keep an eye on your talents and strengths that lead to the 20% (or those talents that produce the greatest outcomes)
